At times of high volatility, National Grid needs additional flexible generation and demand to balance the system and avoid power outages. Demand Turn Up is a service that will pay flexibility providers to increases their electricity consumption when requested at times there is excess renewable electricity being supplied into the national network.
Let’s have a chat and see how we can help you.
Demand Turn Up is a service to encourage large energy users and embedded generators to either increase demand (through shifting consumption) or reduce generation when there is excess energy on the system – typically overnight and weekend afternoons.
Demand Turn Up is open to any technology that has the flexibility to increase demand (through shifting, not wasting unnecessarily) or reduce generation during times of high renewable output and low demand. Such flexibility providers might include water pumping stations, some manufacturing loads, cold storage and space cooling.
